Active Canterbury Walkers Arrive at FGS South Island
To promote a healthy and active lifestyle for its people, the Christchurch City Council has sponsored the Active Canterbury walking groups. Every Thursday and Sunday, participants gather for their thirty-minute walking expedition to various places in the city. The walking groups’ are open to all and is free of charge.
On 19th February, the group leader for Active Canterbury, Mr. Graeme Stanley led 65 of the participants to visit Fo Guang Shan South Island. At the Temple, the group visited Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island’s “The More Good the Better” children’s drawing exhibition. The group members expressed their amazement at the children’s extraordinary creativity.
After a tour of the Temple, everyone commended the Temple for its peaceful and serene atmosphere. They also expressed their eagerness to visit the Art Gallery again when Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery Exhibition opens at the end of the month.
To conclude their visit, the walking squad enjoyed morning tea at Fo Guang Tea House. The visitors created a warm and cheerful atmosphere at the Temple as they shared good time together.
