FGS South Island volunteers Do It Again!

01 / 10

On 15th of February, the two-day long Lantern Festival in Christchurch continued into its second day. More than 40 BLIA South Island and BLIA Young Adults Division South Island members returned to the stalls and joined the hundreds and thousands of people who continued to flock to the venue to celebrate.

Early in the morning, around 10 volunteers came to FGS South Island’s kitchen to prepare more food for sale on the second day, in response to FGS South Island’s famous “Coriander Pan Cake” being sold out during the first day.

Even after a long night the day before, the volunteers did not feel tired, as they collectively knew that all their efforts go towards fundraising for the Temple.

On the afternoon of 15th, the volunteer squad made their way to the venue to set up the stalls and prepare the ingredients to be used during the evening. Dressed in neat uniforms, the volunteers marked their stalls, and were ready for another day of action!

BLIA South Island President Mr. Almeric Cheng and Venerable Juexi joined the squad and gave the volunteers some encourage words. Apart from selling food, members of BLIA Young Adults Division also performed on the main stage, and reached out to the audiences by promoting YAD activities. After a day of fun and hard work, the volunteers felt that the Lantern Festival was fruitful and worthwhile.
