Volunteers Study Group
On 8th February, a Volunteers Study Group, which was initiated by Director Louisa Kuo of Buddha’s Light International Association South Island New Zealand, was held in Tea House of Fo Guang Shan South Island. The seven volunteers who attended the study group included Mr. and Mrs. Liu, Ms. Lee, Ms. Tsai and others.
Under the guidance of Director Kuo, the group read the article “Bodhisattva and Volunteer” from the 2008 Buddha’s Light International Association World Conference. With each other, they shared their thoughts on what it means to be a volunteer and the value of doing so. Those in attendance included members of the Reception Group, Shrine Attendant Group and Administration Group.
As everyone arrived at the passage “Bodhisattvas are the volunteers of humanity and volunteers are the Bodhisattvas of the human realm”, they shared their thoughts and experiences of being a volunteer. During the discussion, the volunteers also discussed ideas on how to maintain their familial responsibilities while being a volunteer and how to organize their time and roles so that more people can become involved in the process of giving to the community.
