Lunar New Year Mass Greeting

01 / 23

Sunday 15 February 2009

The Lunar New Year Mass Greeting was organised to mark the end of the Chinese New Year Celebrations and to show appreciation of all the volunteers who have worked so hard over the past few months to make recent celebrations so successful.

Afternoon tea was served and blessings were given by Dolly, President of the BLIA, Peter Young, Advisor, the Vice Presidents of the BLIA and Directors of the sub-chapters and both divisions of the YAD. Each blessing was followed by entertainment which included a quiz, a recital by Andy Chen, three brothers sang traditional Malaysian songs played the accordion and the YAD sang and performed brake dancing. Venerable Manwang thanked every one for their contributions to the successful events and finally Venerable Abbess Manshin addressed the gathering, announcing that the 2010 World Conference will be held at Fo Guan Shan Temple in the North Island. This created great excitement and a little trepidation to everyone listening.

Each person who gave a blessing also drew 5 tickets for the prize draw. There was a superb range of prizes donated by the BLIA committee and all the recipients were very happy with their gifts.

It was a very happy occasion where all the members joined in the Dharma joy of being part of the Fo Guan Shan community; working together co-operatively in harmony to demonstrate their appreciation of the opportunities Humanistic Buddhism offers through every aspect of their lives.
