North 1 Chapter Explores the Importance of Triple Gem

On 7th February, Buddha’s Light International Association South Island North 1 Sub-chapter held a study group at Fo Guang Shan South Island. The study group was called for by the new North 1 Sub-chapter President Ms. Yang, and was held by North 1 Vice-President Mr. Yu in the presence of Venerable Juexi. The session was attended by over 20 members, including BLIA South Island’s President and Vice-President.

The theme of the study group was “why Buddhists believe in the Triple Gem” and the attendees discussed the types of attitude and respect Buddhists should have towards the Triple Gem. During the study group, everyone discussed their points of views towards the subject and shared the benefits of being a vegetarian.

Venerable Juexi used the Buddhism concept of cause and effect to explain that abstaining is a type of protection, and not a restriction. After vibrant discussions, everyone generated ideas for events for the upcoming months, which included seminars, movies, study groups and socials.
