When the Old Meets New at First West Chapter Social

On 7th February, Buddha’s Light International Association South Island West 1 Sub-chapter held a social at Fo Guang Shan South Island’s Hai-Hui Hall. The social was attended by over 20 BLIA members, including former President of West 1 Sub-chapter Ms. Kuo, new President Ms. Tsai, Vice-President Ms. Lin as well as the President of BLIA South Island, with Venerable Juexi sitting in.

The social began with the former Sub-chapter President introducing the new President and members to the group after which they shared how they came to be a part of the BLIA and a member of the Temple.

The members interacted warmly with each other, and collectively they felt the importance of “the home of the brilliant life”- referring to the Temple- and supporting the Temple, as well as servicing society. Ms. Kuo provided everyone with the explanation of Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Dharma words “Earnest Cultivation Earns Fruitful Harvest”, in hope that everyone will cultivate merits and gain wisdom during the year.

Venerable Juexi explained the phrase “using the power of life to contribute and form good affinities”, and encouraged everyone to put their good intentions into action, and thus add to the value of their lives. To conclude the wonderful social, the members shared their ideas for the events to be held during the year while having some afternoon tea.
