Police Strategic Advisor Appreciates Art and Architecture
On 24th January, Mr. Kefeng Chu, Strategic Advisor for New Zealand Police and Officer Liying Cai came to Fo Guang Shan South Island Temple to have a meeting with Ms. Bev Watson of the Baha’I Community of New Zealand.
Venerable Juexi and Buddha’s Light International Association South Island president Almeric Cheng showed the three visitors around Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery South Island. At the Art Gallery, the guests were given an introduction to the exhibition “The More Good The Better”- an exhibition where all the artworks are done by children from Taiwan.
The guests were also taken around the temple to appreciate and gain a better understanding of the concepts behind the architecture of the Temple. Ms. Watson expressed her amazement and surprise by the artistic ability of the little Taiwanese artists of the exhibition.
From the architecture of FGS South Island, she saw the spirit of Buddhism and the creativity in combining it with contemporary architecture. Venerable Juexi and president Cheng also invited the guests to come to “Yao Hong Ying’s Embroidery Exhibition” in March and gather a group to be a part of Buddha’s Birthday Celebration which takes place in April. To conclude the visit, they were presented with “Earnest Cultivation Earns Fruitful Harvest” Spring Festival scrolls and red packets from the Temple.
