Sending Love into The Community

On 20th January, six members of Buddha’s Light International Association South Island, under the leadership of BLIA South Island president Mr. Almeric Cheng, stepped into the community to deliver meals to senior citizens.

BLIA South Island has been a part of the Red Cross’s Meals on Wheels programme since 1997, and to date, has served for twelve years on end. Every Tuesday at 11am, the members meet to pick up the lunch boxes waiting to be delivered and splitting into three groups, they deliver them to the homes of senior citizens.

The BLIA can deliver lunch boxes to over 20 homes each time and during winter, they must work fast to deliver a hot lunch to the elderly. Together with Red Cross, Meals on Wheels sends love into the Christchurch community.
