Trip to Planet FM recording studio
Thursday 15th January 2009
Today Lesley, Hope, Graham, Stuart and Roger from the BLIA English Subchapter took a trip to the Unitec Campus in Western Springs accompanied by Venerable Miaoyu. Their purpose was to visit the Planet FM recording studio where they made four half hour recordings about Humanistic Buddhism to be broadcast over the next four weeks on Friday from 1.35-2.10pm. Each of the recordings began with a short play based on a story by Venerable Master Hsing Yun followed by a reading from one of his books or essays. It was with some apprehension that the group of budding radio broadcasters entered the studio, but the host and studio engineer encouraged them to relax and enjoy the experience. It would be fair to say that being able to stop and re-record any mistakes or stumbling over tongue-twisting pronunciation was a very helpful! After driving back to Botany the group stopped for a lovely shared vegetarian lunch at Botany Junction.
If you wish to listen to the broadcast live it is on Planet FM 104.6 at 1.35pm for the next four Fridays. The recordings can also be listened to either live as streaming audio downloaded during the week they have been broadcast on the website www.planetaudio.org.nz . Go to the "What's On" section, and in the future the station plan to make a library of recordings which can also be accessed through this website.
