A Warm Gathering at the Lavender Farm
Under the leadership of Buddha’s Light International Association South Island President Almeric Cheng, members of BLIA and volunteers gathered at BLIA advisor John Lai’s lavender farm, where they held a meeting.
Those present at the heart warming gathering included BLIA advisor Sandy Liao, vice president Mei Hua Chen, BLIA South Island division presidents, committee members as well as Temple volunteers and devotees, totaling around 40 people.
Venerable Abbess Manshin shared some time with those present, and to welcome the new year, encouraged everyone to; put more effort in their Buddhist path, attend Dharma functions, and organize more activities for the BLIA members to attend in order to create team spirit. Abbess explained that doing so will allow the 2009 BLIA committee to have an exciting, productive and memorable year.
During the meeting, a large hail storm began, and thus illustrated what the Sutras have told us; that we should cherish our lives as everything in life is impermanent, and that nature can do many amazing things.
