Loving the Earth Preserving the Earth
To enhance the public awareness of environmental care in Christchurch, the Christchurch Interfaith Society NZ organized a beach cleaning activity at Kairaki beach on 11th of April. Around 10 members of the Buddhists, Catholics and Baha’is joined into the event. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) Vice President James Low and members from the BLIA Young Adults Division (YAD) also participated with grateful thanks from the Interfaith President Dianne.
The group divided their selves into 3 teams which cleaned up rubbish from Kaikari beach and the Waimakiriri river mouth. The cleaning up took 2 hours and the rubbish were then sent to the rubbish dump. President Dianne said that the activity had brought togetherness and joy in everyone where she suggests doing more of it, hoping that it could attract more people to engage.
Understanding Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Environmental and Spiritual Preservation”, YAD members, Daniel and Michelle said that participation of them is a must to protect the environment simply because there is only one earth. If we all have to spirit to do it together, earth would definitely preserved.
