“Asian Leader Forum” Held at Fo Guang Shan
The “Asian Leader Forum” was held at the temple on 18th December, attended by Manukau Police Superintendent Wendy Spiller, Inspectors Neil Phillip and Pete Kaveney, Asian Community Crimes Prevention Panel Chairperson Rosa Chow, Venerable Zhiming and BLIA Member Veronica. This Forum centres on the topics of preventing and spreading public awareness regarding bag snatching, drink driving and burglary.
Venerable Abbess Manshin received the guests in the meeting room and gifted them with Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Little Fo Guang Booklet” and Venerable Xing Pei’s “Chanting the Buddha’s Name with Carefreeness” CD. She hopes that these wise Dharma words can reduce the officer’s stress and chants of the Buddha’s name can purify each one’s mind to allow the return to the self.
Superintendent Spiller thanked the Abbess for her wise words and encouragement and temple’s atmosphere which allows her to recharge, relax and be away from stress.
The Superintendent also thanked BLIA’s amicable assistance to the police for propagating crime prevention and protection awareness to the local community through the “Know Your Neighbours” program. Now the police and BLIA are close friends that supports the police during all their activities. She hopes that there can be more cooperation for the coming year.
