“Bodhisattva Where are You?” Art Exhibition Opening Ceremony
On 7th December, the opening ceremony of artist Hai Chuang Wang’s art exhibition “Bodhisattva Where Are You?” was at Fo Guang Yuan Gallery 1. This exhibition show cased 46 of her internationally toured pieces created since 1996. This event was attended by the artist Dr Hai Chuang Wang herself, Venerable Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge Venerable Juehao, BLIA North Island Advisor Peter Yong, Vice-president Linda Daniell, Auckland University Artist Nim Flora Chan and Irena Keckes and other members of BLIA, in total about one hundred in attendance.
After a wonderful violin performance, the Abbess thanked the artist for bringing these uniquely creative pieces to share with everyone. She reminded everyone that one should both admire the art work as well as get in touch with the artist’s thoughts, attitudes and intended ideas to get across, therefore also obtaining more meaning to one’s life.
Dr Wang explained her paintings by using the example of the 6 Paramita, where she described her inspirations, creativity and realisation of the Dharma along the way. She expressed that: “Some people say that I use art to express the Way. I think that art is my medium to motivate me to self-reflect and cultivate. I hope these work will be able to touch the audience’s heart and find themselves, which is also conversing with Bodhisattvas.” Dr Wang don’t think she is an artist showing off her technical skills, but instead are simply recordings of her state of mind and realisations.
This exhibition will be held until 31st January 2015. All are welcomed
