The characteristics of lead leadership

On 29 November 2008, nine members participated in the ESC Saturday service. During motive meditation each participant was asked to select and focus on one of the art works in the Embroidery Exhibition to realise the determination, concentration and patience of the artist, and in doing so link and apply these qualities in our daily life.

The Dharma discussion focused on the characteristics of lead leadership which are morality, tolerance, loving kindness, compassion with wisdom and wisdom with compassion. The guiding reverend, Venerable Maioyu, led the discussion with a story about the five fingers who argued about who was the most important which concluded with the explanation that, with an open heart, any one can be a leader of a family, a community or organization by accepting all sentient beings through the teachings of Buddha. Ultimately, we are all leaders and master of ourselves, we need to find the source and apply with wisdom and compassion rather than self importance, position or status.
