“You Scratch My Back, and I Scratch Yours”
The New Zealand Christchurch Patricia Paul Dance School conducted the performance “Dance to the Heart” on 6th and 7th of December at the University of Canterbury’s Ngaio Marsh Theater.
As dance teacher Patricia Paul’s students have performed at Buddha’s Light International Association South Island and Fo Guang Shan South Islands’ events and performances, she warmly invited several BLIA members and Young Adult Division members to perform at her show to add variety to the performances and allow the unique Chinese Culture to be showcased.
BLIA members Tracy Chen, Rebecca Luk and Shuen Shuen Chen performed Dun Huang Dance’s “Flying Devata”, and YAD member Andy Hsu performed “Shaolin Martial Arts”.
The “Dance to the Heart” performance showcased a total of 18 dance performances, including hip hop, ballet, Shaolin Martial Arts as well as Dun Huang Dance. Around 300 people came to appreciate the amazing performances the dancers had to show, and applauded appreciatively after each performance. Patricia Paul not only commented on how fantastic the Shaolin Martial Arts was, but also commented on how beautiful the Dun Huang Dance was, and thanked them appreciatively for their cooperation, effort and contribution to the event.
