Another name for Kuan Yin Bodhisattva is ‘Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes Kuan Yin Bodhisattva’

Lotus Link Dharma Class
Wednesday 19 November 2008

Several members met at 6pm to weed and sweep the courtyard before taking part in the evening chanting. At the beginning of the Dharma class Venerable Maioyu took time to talk through the events to be held at the Temple over the next six months.

The theme of the discussion was to understand the meaning of the four Maha Bodhisattva’s who help sentient beings to learn, understand and practice Buddhism, freeing them from defilements. The meaning and significance of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, who represents great compassion, is awareness and listening to the call for help and suffering by giving a helping hand according to needs. Kuan Yin Bodhisattva, can transform into unlimited forms, using different ways to liberate different kinds of suffering of uncountable sentient beings. Another name for Kuan Yin Bodhisattva is ‘Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes Kuan Yin Bodhisattva’, which are seen as the instrument and methods to overcome each of our defilements.
