New Zealand Police Internal Network Support Meeting Held at Fo Guang Shan
New Zealand Police’s “MPES” organised a “New Zealand Police Internal Network Support Meeting” on 25th July at Fo Guang Shan. This workshop is intended as a platform where officers of Asian, Indian and other ethnic descent can conduct cultural, social and learning exchange.
The day’s VIP included Superintendent Mike Clement, Inspectors Hurimoana and Rakesh Naidoo, Deputy Director of the Organised and Financial Crime Agency New Zealand Detective Superintendent Ray Van Beynen and 150 participating officers. The workshop commenced by Venerable Abbess Manshin (who also happens to be the Chaplain to Royal Police Academy’s unit 261) offering a prayer by reciting Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s “Prayers and Wishes for Police Officers”.
This was followed by words from Superintendent Mike Clement to acknowledge the richness of multiculturalism, results of team work between Fo Guang Shan and the Police and faith in it’s essential importance on maintaining co-operation between the police and the public.
The workshop included discussion on main topics, group discussion, lunch and culture activities. This allowed each officer to familiarised what other department does and development for the future. Then both Venerable Miaoyus led the officers to practice Tai Qi, which they’ve all immensely enjoyed.
Later Inspector Rakesh thanked the workshop team’s contributions and co-operation, Fo Guang Shan and BLIA Member’s high quality support and services. He expressed that Fo Guang Shan used faith, culture and education to continuously provide wholesomeness to the local community. This provided the police with better opportunities to get amongst the people.
