Cherry Blossom Feast - 9 November 2008
The Cherry Blossom Feast attracted over 200 people who took part in a number of activities including the Beauty of Fo Guang Shan photographic competition. Special food relating to the Cherry Blossom Feast was offered and members of the English Sub-Chapter, under the guidance of Venerable Maioyu, offered the Tea Ch'an (meditation) ceremony.
The ‘little prince and princess’ talent competition attracted about 30 children between the ages of 3 and 11 who wore costumes and gave performances in singing, dancing and kung fu. Venerable Abbess Manshin stated that by holding this event at the monastery we are able to explore the brightness and hope within our lives and through the cycle of the cherry blossom we can be taught the ultimate truth. Although the little princes and princesses are very young, they will be the leaders of the country and pillars of the future.
