To have faith and strength to liberate their suffering and be able to interact with the Buddha and Bodhisattva.
Medicine Buddha Dharma Function – 26 October 2008
To celebrate Medicine Buddha’s birthday to monastery recited the ‘Medicine Buddha Sutra’ for 2 weeks, completed at the Dharma Function of Sunday 26 October in which approximately 120 people participated.
Venerable Abbess Manshin gave a sermon regarding the 12 great vows of Medicine Buddha emphasizing to everyone that for everyone to obtain food and clothing they have to have faith and strength to liberate their suffering and be able to interact with the Buddha and Bodhisattva. She also encouraged everyone to understand and take action by giving, contributing and taking on burdens by letting ourselves relax, be joyful and let our good root grow to obtain more strength and cultivate both inner fortune and wisdom.
If we take on more burden we should accumulate wisdom and this accumulation of wisdom will enable us to overcome obstructions, such as overcoming hatred, to obtain a good mind. If we cultivate this path and obtain a healthy body and mind we won’t feel pressure or suffering.
