New Police Commissioner Tours the Temple – Experience the Wisdom of Humanistic Buddhism
On 18th July, newly appointed Police Commissioner Mike Bush came to visit the temple under the accompaniment of Superintendent John Tims, Personal Staff Officer Bruce Sinclair, Inspector Ann Wilkie and Secretary Louisa Mann. They were received by Venerable Abbess Manshin, BLIA North Island President Dolly Tsai, Advisor Peter Young, other Venerables and BLIA Committee Members.
The guests were toured through the temple garden, architecture, culture corridors and new sculpture exhibition in the art gallery. They also made flower offerings to the Buddha inside the Main Shrine and light offerings and prayers inside the Pagoda. This allowed the officers to witness the strength of co-operation between police and the public in building a harmonious society. Then they were then treated to a delicious vegetarian meal and were gifted Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s books.
The officers praised the temple’s solemn and tranquil atmosphere and gave appreciation for the warm hospitality. This trip allowed them to experience Humanistic Buddhism’s culture and educational values, which provided positive environment for people’s mental development.
