Develop Comapssion with Wisdom
tai Chi & Meditation Saturday Service
18 October 2008
Fourteen participants took part in the Service which included tai chi, walking, motivation and sitting meditation. During motive meditation members were asked to focus, without discrimination, on the elements; to feel the breeze and appreciate the sun and rain.
During the Dharma discussion members shared their reasons for coming to the Temple and with the guidance of Venerable Maioyu considered the perception of self and our inability, as sentient beings, to not be able to obtain enlightenment because of attachment and defilement. Through meditation we can develop compassion with wisdom and by doing so control our physical form which helps to control the mind. By being compassionate to ourselves we can take responsibility for our mistakes, learn from the experience, repent and endeavour not to repeat them. By doing this we will be able to focus our intention on the objective rather than the ‘I’ or ‘self”.
