Letter from a Canadian friend

01 / 04

On the 25th September, Fo Guang Shan South Island Temple received a letter from Allan Sinclair, who expressed his interest in the temple and Buddhism. In the letter, the Canadian explained that he was in Christchurch to attend a health care conference at a near by hotel, and couldn’t resist but make a detour to the temple to have a look at the day’s end.

There were three occasions when he walked past the temple, and “seeing the outer front of your building caused me to stop, rest and admire it. I wish I had been free during the day to come inside.” Because of his tight schedule, he never had the opportunity to walk inside the temple and have a look.

He also conveyed his thoughts and feelings about the temple on his return to home, stating that I keep reflecting on your Temple and know that seeing it, in some way, has helped to guide me”. The letter concluded with Allan requesting help from the temple staff to find him pictures of the temple, as he could not source any himself.
