BLIA – Auckland Annual General Meeting
Peter Young, President of the BLIA chaired the meeting attended by advisors to the Temple, Community Groups and around 100 members of the BLIA. Venerable Abbess Manshin and Venerable in Charge, Venerable Manwang also attended to give guidance during the meeting.
The discussions followed the teaching and theme of Venerable Master Hsing Yun who encourages all members to “go out’ and become involved with the local community. The community events that were discussed included:
• The opening of the Ormiston Road Bridge on 11 October
• Guy Fawkes Day on 1 November
• The Feast for the Cherry Blossom on 9 November
• Hold activities to promote ‘environmental protection’
• Promote Humanistic Buddhism Study Groups
• Organise members get together parties
• Create a singing group/choir
An election was held for the President and Vice Presidents of the BLIA. The new President is Dolly Choy and the three Vice Presidents are Kwok Biu Chee, Peter Chen and Linda Daniell.
Venerable Abbess Manshin encouraged all members to engender good affinity and rely on our faith and beliefs to propagate Buddhism through educational and cultural activities. This will enable our culture and faith to continue.
