Inspector Colin Higson of Counties Manukau Police District, Senior Sergeant Anson Lin visited Fo Guang Shan Temple Auckland on the afternoon of 30th April 2021. They were welcomed by Abbess Manshin, Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland, Venerable Rulian and BLIA YAD. They showed sincere concerns regarding the Temple’s daily operations and the current maintenance projects. They also learned about the upcoming 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing that will be starting on 3rd May and felt pleasure to see New Zealand Police involvement and support in this educational program.

Abbess led the Inspector and Senior Sergeant to explore the project sites, explained the maintenance works on the roof tiles since the end of last year. Later on, they went to strike the Peace Gong in front of the Pagoda. Abbess Manshin mentioned that the Temple has been sharing the beautiful message of 3 Goodness and 4 Givings to the community. She also felt grateful for New Zealand Police and local community to cooperate in building a harmonious community over the years. On top of that, NZP also held several meetings and forums at the Temple annually, hoping that the tranquil environment of the Temple could provide inspiration to the participating police. Inspector Colin was praising the flower arrangement by Abbess Manshin.

Abbess Manshin led the officers to the venue of the education program. Inspector Colin and Senior Sergeant Anson were amazed by the colourful wishing cards on the wall of 3G4G Park. Reading the wishes from the children, they also wrote their wishing cards and posted them onto the wall, adding two wishful bodhi leaves to the Wishing Tree of New Zealand Police. The two police officers expressed their hope for the successful conduct of this educational program, and they will provide their greatest support to work collaboratively towards a harmonious community.
