The BLIA North Island Successfully Held the Mock Global Buddhism Exam Under the Assistance of the IT Support Team

01 / 06

Under the condition of the COVID outbreak in the Auckland region, the BLIA North Island held an online mock test via Zoom, which aimed to prepare for the 2021 BLIA Global Buddhism Examination on the 12th of September. There was a total of 80 examinees participated in the mock test run.

As it was the first time that the Buddhism Exam will be processed online. The President of BLIA North Island Lintao Yu led YAD members Muyang WANG, Chang YAO, Yvonne HUANG, and Hongkai GU formed an IT Support Team to help the members solve technical problems during the exam period. Examinees who encountered issues had been successfully solved and also gained the confidence of utilising modern technologies after contacting one of the IT Support team members.

President Lintao shared that the preparation for the Global Buddhism Exam started a few months ago, which included detailed communications with the Temple, encouraged BLIA committees to promote the Buddhism exam, and organised the IT Support team to run multiple tests that considered all possible issues to solve beforehand. Although the COVID outbreak in the Auckland region turned  to a lockdown, the BLIA North Island rapidly modified the exam from paper examination to online examination smoothly. "The mock test had been well accomplished today, all examinees had opened and submitted the exam successfully, and we have noticed some improvement can be made for our IT Support team during the actual exam to smoothen the process." President Lintao concluded that: "It is blessed that we have Temple and able to learn the Humanistic Buddhism together."

President of the Senior YAD Muyang feels very grateful:" The Global Buddhism Exam is a grant gift that nourishes the public to cultivate the heart of Right Thought under this COVID outbreak. As a member of the IT Support team, I felt the compassion and courage from venerables and BLIA committee members, learnt the enthusiasm of Buddhism from Abbess Manshin, and comprehended the unbreakable faith from President Lintao. It is my pleasure to solve technical issues encountered by those examinees."

Vice President YaoChang said: "I felt it is such an honour to serve examinees to attend the online Buddhism exam without worries. Although we are isolated at home during this epidemic, we can still utilise modern technologies to connect and join the online Buddhism exam without barriers. I deeply feel that Buddhism and our BLIA members are keeping up with the times."

"It was such grateful causes and conditions for our IT Support team members to use our up-to-date knowledge to help examinees to overcome technical difficulties, which is giving others confidence" Senior YAD committee Hongkai shared: "It was also fortunate that President Lintao guided us to offer us  help by working behind the scene. We will put all our effort in assisting examinees to solve technical issues and wish them can get the best result."

YAD member Yvonne shared that: "Although everyone can only stay at home during the lockdown, we can't stop the pace of studying and taking the Buddhist exam. I felt fortunate to become a member of the IT Support team, providing technical services and explaining operation procedures for examinees. Meanwhile, I am very grateful to President Lintao for his guidance in running this mock test smoothly. It makes me feel very valuable to see the happy smiles presented by each BLIA member when they pass the mock test successfully.
