Ladies of Christchurch Red Hatter Visit FGS - Enjoying an Art, Food, and Spiritual Journey

01 / 09

On 9th March 2023, eight elegantly dressed ladies wearing purple outfits and red headpieces caught the attention of visitors at Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Christchurch. They were members of the Christchurch Red Hatter, led by their group leader Queen May Stewart, who came to the temple for a gathering and were hosted by BLIA members.

The BLIA member introduced the group to the Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art gallery Christchurch's current exhibition, Tang Wenjun's Indigo Dyeing Exhibition. The ladies were amazed by the unique indigo dyeing artworks, praised the artist's talent and appreciated her dedication to art. They also admired the museum's Ch’an atmosphere, which was simple yet elegant and not luxurious. The gallery's combination with the indigo dyeing exhibition was a perfect match.

During the visit, the BLIA member introduced the group to the Three Acts of Goodness concept of late Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founder of FGS. The ladies visited the Time Corridor and the Buddha Hall and were fascinated by the peaceful atmosphere of the Buddha Hall and curious about the flowers, lamps, and incense in the hall.

After the visit, the group had a meal at Water drop cafe, and they couldn't stop praising the delicious food and tea, as well as the friendly service. One of the ladies, Lyn Frazer, had read about Water drop cafe in the newspaper and was impressed by it. She carefully observed every corner of the place during the visit and felt that every space was managed with care. She exclaimed, "We came to the right place!" Lyn loved the gallery's exhibition and became a friend of FGY Christchurch. The Red Hatter ladies had a joyful and unforgettable gathering at water drop cafe.
