01 / 10

On 2nd April 2023, Hada Tsuguyoshi, the Japanese Consul in Christchurch, and Christopher James, a Sogetsu flower arrangement from the Australian Victoria branch, visited Fo Guang Shan Christchurch. They were received by FGS Christchurch Minister in charge, Venerable Juexi, the Vice President of the Buddha’s Light International Association South Island, James Low, and members of the community.

Venerable Juexi led the group to offer a light in the Buddha Hall and introduced the founder of Fo Guang Shan, Venerable Master Hsing Yun, as well as the construction idea of the temple. The group visited the Time Corridor and the exhibition of the Tang Wenjun Indigo Dyeing Exhibition in the FGY Art Gallery.

This was the first time for Hada and Christopher to visit the temple, and they were deeply impressed by its unique architecture and beautiful environment, especially the peaceful atmosphere of the Temple. Hada shared that he had passed by the temple many times but had never been inside. He was grateful for the opportunity to visit and get to know this beautiful place in Christchurch. He hopes to try the vegetarian food at the Water Drop Café, appreciate more art in the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery and introduce the Temple to more people. Japanese Consul and Fo Guang Shan Christchurch has deepened mutual understanding through the visit.
