International Aviation Academy Students Sought Blessings at FGS South Island
On 18th February 2020, 5 Vietnamese students undergoing flying training at Christchurch International Aviation Academy came over to Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Temple South Island to seek blessings. They were received by FGS South Island Minister-in-charge Venerable Jue Xi. On that day, one of the five students was supposed to take part in an examination, and he specially came to seek blessing from the Buddha.
These aviation students from Vietnam make frequent visits to FGS Temple to pray to Buddha, and also to seek blessings by striking the Happiness Bell. Apart from these activities, they never fail to enjoy their vegetarian meals in the Water Drop Café. Being Buddhists, they always feel the joy brought about by the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of the Temple.
Upon their arrival, the students were led by Venerable Jue Xi to the Buddha Hall to offer prayers and to carry out Sutra chanting. These were then followed by the recitals of Master Hsing Yun’s A prayer for Examinees which would help to increase their self-confidence, perseverance and wisdom, resulting in better exam performance. In her speech, Venerable Jue Xi told the students not to place too much importance on success and failure in their examination. To their pleasant surprise, the students received a text message from FGS New Zealand Abbess Venerable Manshin, wishing them good luck and success in their exam. The students were very moved by this kind gesture of Abbess. Finally, Venerable Jue Xi presented to each student a Blessing Card and wished each of them success in their examination. She also reminded them to visit the Temple frequently.
