01 / 07

On 14th March 2021, the 1st Subchapter of Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island organised the "Autumn Birthday Tea Party" for BLIA South Island members. Nearly 40 members attended the Tea Party to celebrate the birthdays of members born in the months of March, April and May.

At the Party, the Water Drop Cafe specially prepared a birthday cake to celebrate the birthdays of Venerable Abbess Manshin and 12 other BLIA members. In her speech, Abbess Manshin pointed out that birthday is in fact suffering day for mothers and on this day we should remember the greatness and kindness of a mother in giving birth to her baby and in nurturing the new born after that. In this difficult times of global pandemic, staying healthy is so important to everyone. We must take good care of our bodies and live quality lives filled with wisdom. Together, we must work diligently and take responsibility to promote the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism.

At the birthday party, Master Hsing Yun’s The Beauty of Move video was played. Master Hsing Yun said in the video: "To be able to move the hearts of others is the most powerful life force. If you want to move others’ hearts, you yourself must do good things first. Do not fight or hate each other. If you are compassionate, wise, willing to serve and influence others positively, someone will be willing to learn from you by following your example of saying good words, doing good things, and thinking good thoughts. If people can mutually influence one another in a positive way and practise compassion and kindness, then the World will be most beautiful." The audience was very touched by Master Hsing Yun’s speech.

Through this Birthday Tea Party, BLIA South Island members were glad to gather at the Temple, the home of wisdom of theirs. At this party, other than being able to stay connected with the Venerables, members were happy to get together under one roof to exchange greetings, and they looked forward to the next gathering.
