Heart-warming Award Ceremony to NZ Police's Coordination of Getting Things Done Swiftly

01 / 07

A heart-warming award ceremony was held on 3rd April 2022 as a sign of appreciation to NZ Police for their warm and hard work in distributing 15000 RAT kits to nearly 100 schools around Auckland and Christchurch from the 14-18th of March. FGS NZ Abbess Manshin presented a Certificate of Recognition to NZ Police, represented by Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Scott Gemmell and Senior Sergeant Anson Lin. Mission Heights Junior College Principal Ian Morrison and Flat Bush Primary School Principal Banapa Avatea, and nearly 200 people attending the ceremony witnessed the warm and touching moment.

Inspector Scott Gemmell thanked Abbess, the Temple and BLIA Team are the bird of two wings that helped our community. A huge thank to the BLIA World HQ from Taiwan that supported NZ Police and our local schools. The kindness, thoughtfulness, mindfulness, and generosity benefited 97 schools in Auckland and Christchurch, which helped 48,186 students and 4765 staff within five days. The efficiency and passion of NZ Police sped up the entire distribution process, which brought a huge relief for our schools to combat COVID-19 in the nick of time.

Senior Sergeant Anson Lin said the RAT Kits played a critical role in the Omicron outbreak. The students and teachers were unable to back to school due to the lack of the test kit. He experienced this when his children took online classes at home, and they couldn't learn as well as they did at school. When Abbess comprehended this situation, she immediately applied to the headquarters for RAT Kits to relieve the pressure on the school. He thanked the Temple's contribution to the community and felt very honoured to have had the opportunity in participating.

Principle Ian Morrison said the school and Temple had been so closely connected over the years. When Abbess understood the plight and needs of the schools, she just said, “What do we need. Let’s get it! “. Ian appreciated all the Temple's works in bringing the community closer together.

Principle Banapa Avatea got to know last year's 3G4G Cultural Sharing Festival, and this is his first visit to the Temple. He acknowledged that nearly 100 schools were blessed by Temple's kindness, empathy, understanding, and urgency to make things happen so quickly. The past few years have been very hard for schools. When everybody in the community comes together, we can make things happen. Thank to the Police who worked so hard to provide us with a safe and happy community. Principle Banapa thanked the Temple for bringing sunshine into our school's life.

Venerable Abbess transferred the merits to NZ Police for sending many officers to collaborate with BLIA members to complete the emergency relief. The Temple looked forward to the upcoming Eighth 3G4G Cultural Sharing Festival and continued to bring more value and light to the community.
