Fo Guang Club Sports Night
On May 11, 2023, Fo Guang Club held its highly anticipated Sports Night at the Li-Ning Badminton Centre. A total of 15 members, including both YAD and BLIA members, gathered for a night of sports, whether it was to make new friends or catch up with familiar faces.
After warm-ups, rallies and games, both doubles and singles matches were played. The competition was friendly yet enjoyable, with shuttles flying back and forth across the courts. It didn't take long for members to work up a sweat and have smiles of contentment on their faces. Jack, a committee member of YAD NZ, expressed, "It was great to connect with like-minded individuals. The friendly and supportive atmosphere made it easier for everyone to participate, regardless of their experience levels." It was heartening to witness players encouraging one another and taking turns during the games.
Badminton is not only a game of coordination and teamwork but also teaches members the importance of endurance. In today's fast-paced and ever-evolving life, we have to juggle piles of assignments, demanding work, and meet endless deadlines. "Yes, sometimes we might feel overwhelmed and distressed, but with the right mindfulness, we can find peace in our hearts," added Jane.
Venerable Master Hsing Yun once said, "If one does not delve deep into the sea of worries, how can one gain ultimate wisdom?" With this mindset, he managed to overcome difficulties and thrive in this complex society. Sometimes it is crucial to have patience and take a step back when we are in doubt. Only by recharging ourselves can we return with greater strength and continue moving forward. "Where there is Dharma, there is a way."
Members were also encouraged to not be satisfied with their current achievements but to strive to discover their inner potential and continuously seek improvement. At the end of the day, bodies were tired, and sweat dripped, but the bonds between members strengthened, qualities were cultivated, and hearts were contented. Ultimately, that's all that matters.
