FGS South Island NZ celebrates Mother’s Day
The second Sunday of May marks the celebration of Mother’s Day worldwide. On 11th May, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island NZ celebrated the day with a dharma function and calligraphy transcription led by Venerable Jue Xi, the merits which were transferred to the mothers, wishing them to be healthy and well. Later, a “Mother’s Day High Tea” event was held that attracted 150 BLIA members and Christchurch people to attend.
FGS New Zealand Venerable Abbess Manshin said in her speech that: “Mother’s Day is a day for us to remember our dearest mother. All the dedicated preparation going into today’s event expresses the great love we have for our mother. With a heart of gratitude, we would like to give the utmost respect to our beloved mother”. Venerable Abbess celebrated with all the BLIA mothers but cutting the big cake together.
The afternoon tea includes a wide selection of cakes and desserts, with every table full of sweet treats made with such delicate skill. Local kiwi accounted for the majority of the participants that day, the great food being the highlight for many and it was indeed a very packed day with few seats to spare. The public enjoyed their nice cup of afternoon tea under a warm and cozy atmosphere filled with melodious music. The Mother’s Day event was very well received, and everyone thanked the temple for providing such a fine space to celebrate a very memorable afternoon with their mothers.
