FGS NZ temple Interviewed by Stuff Media NZ

On 21st January, Stuff Media NZ journalist Jody O’Callaghan and photographer Alden came to FGS South Island temple for a visit, hoping to get the gather the story of Buddhist life in New Zealand and share it with a wider audience. BLIA South Island NZ committee member Kok Wei Low greeted the two upon their arrival at the temple, and told them about his personal growth and great experiences over the many years at the temple. Indeed, the temple is filled with many learning opportunities that has dramatically changed his life.

Kok Wei later described the process of preparing for the “FGS South Island New Year Three Good Deeds Lantern Festival”. The bright lights of the lantern festival is meant to signify the light spread out into the world by Fo Guang Shan founder Master Hsing Yun with his three good deeds and four gives concept. This light is especially important in helping Christchurch to recover as a city which has been affected by natural and human disasters in recent years. By restoring the city’s peaceful atmosphere, people’s hearts will once again be filled with confidence, happiness, hope and ease.

Jody was well impressed by FGS South Island’s contribution to the local community, and liked the temple’s tranquil and relaxing atmosphere very much.

Alden the photographer was also very attracted by the temple’s stylish design, not missing a chance to take photos of every corner. He explained that he travelled to many places all over Christchurch because of his photography job, but the temple was unlike any other he has ever seen. He is delighted to bring his family over one day for a visit.
