Elder praise FGY Art Gallery CHCH Reflections copper wise exhibition
On 18th September, eight seniors from Darfield led by Christine Anderson came to see the “Reflections of Nature” copper wire exhibition at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch. Christine Anderson happens to be a friend of exhibition artist Leonore Ashby. She was so impressed that she gathered her friends from Darfield to come and enjoy the artwork.
The visitors were received by art gallery coordinator Juin Mei Chang. They were well amazed by the copper wire art, especially considering how Leonore is over seventy years old and yet could still weave such fine and high-quality works of art with a skilful hand. The story behind the art exhibits were what interested them the most, and each of Leonore’s narratives touched upon a warm and moving story in each of their hearts.
Afterwards, the guests were also given a tour of the main shrine, library, as well as the “Transience” joint exhibition in the art gallery. It was the first visit for most of the visitors and they were truly immersed in the tranquil atmosphere of the temple, the peacefulness of the main shrine, not to mention the delicateness of the artworks in the gallery. All of them were delighted to have came and even though it was a two hour return trip to get here, they definitely felt that it was worth it.
