Dean Buchanan Arrives at FGY Christchurch
On 15 June, North Island New Zealand artist Dean Buchanan and his wife Helgar, were warmly welcomed by Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island Minister-In-Charge Venerable Juexi, Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch Coordinator Vicky Han, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island Deputy President Ding Lihson, Committee members Tracy Chen and Kokwei Low in visiting FGS South Island. Dean’s visit is to prepare for his talk on 16 June at the FGY Art Gallery Christchurch.
Dean and Helgar appreciated their work and the artist expressed that looking at the exhibition is like reading his own diary, the inspiration from the magnificent scenery of New Zealand both in the North and South Island. These features were all combined in his unique and creative brushstrokes creating distinctive artworks.
The host then introduced the architectural design of FGS South Island and gave the visitors a tour to the Main Shrine, Time Corridor, Library and the Prajna Room. Dean said that the temple is a gathering place for multiculturalism as everyone will feel welcome here. He also expressed his admiration for the natural atmosphere of the temple which is plain but powerful and harmonious at the same time.
Dean and his wife thanked the hosts for this hospitality and look forward to share his painting inspiration and experience on the afternoon of 16 June.
