Close encounter with artists at the Gallery
New Zealand artist Suzy Abbott has been well received since she exhibited her botanical art at the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Christchurch on 27th October. On 15th December, she was there again to exchange ideas with art lovers, explaining the process of painting making art lovers happy.
Suzy's paintings depict the genuine looks of plants, including the withered ones. Suzy said, her art creations are inextricably drawn from surroundings, such as an hydrangea falling on the ground. Suzy's cherished the vitality and value of all plants, where her value of painting gives them rebirth.
Suzy's art paintings are exquisite and delicate. She showed the public her painting process, sketching real leaves and then using a drawing compass to enlarge the leaf size. She then uses a magnifying glass to enlarge the grain lines so that she can clearly draw the leaves and finally paint. Suzy's seriousness and dedication stunned the audience.
Suzy is a member of the Botanical Art Society. Jacquie Carvan, the president of the society, was there to give support and demonstrated her paintings. On that day, art lovers were able to communicate with artists at close, exchange ideas and benefit everyone joyfully.
