Christchurch Hunterwise Walking Group visits FGS South Island NZ
On the 26th of September, 20 Seniors from the Christchurch Hunterwise Walking Group led by Robin Hickford visited the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island New Zealand temple. Part of the group are avid art lovers, and some have visited the temple before, but this time they came to appreciate a different set of art exhibits.
Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) member Lihson Ding welcomed the walking group to the temple and led them on a tour of the new art exhibitions such as Sarah Deans “Flower Portraits”, Dean Buchananan’s abstract oil paintings, Feng Zi Kai’s Comic exhibition and Paul Deans’s art sculptures. He also introduced Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s spiritual philosophy and some of the activities FGS South Island NZ organises such as the “3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing”.
The visitors really appreciated the artwork on display. Some were delighted by the bold and unrestrained styles seen in Dean Buchanan’s abstract oil paintings, while others were impressed by the simple yet aesthetic composition by Feng Zi Kai. There were also full of praise for Paul Dean’s delicate work in sculpting his statues. Everyone was satisfied in this visit and enjoyed their morning very much.
