Burnside Women’s Institute Visited Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery Replenish Positive Energy during Pandemic

On 27 August, nine elderly members of Christchurch Burnside Women’s Institute were led by Carole Christie visited Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery, Christchurch. Carole were informed that FGY Art Gallery is exhibiting Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition by Professor Kuo from Friends of FGY Art Gallery’s email and invited other members along to visit the exhibition.

FGY Art Gallery staff, Juin Mei had provided a guided tour for the visitors and introduces the history of Professor Kuo, explaining the inner meaning of the artworks. The group of visitors were admired by Professor Kuo’s perseverance and complimented that the artworks were a rare masterpiece. They mentioned that the artwork of traditional Chinese painting seems to be simple yet the artworks presented an in-depth and vibrant life experienced of Professor Kuo.  Besides that, the combination of artworks and ikebana within the Art Gallery provides an artistic atmosphere.

The group of visitors were very interested with arts. They had once visited Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Exhibition at FGY Art Gallery ten years ago and yet the embroidery artworks were unforgettable to them. They were very exciting knowing that FGY Art Gallery will be exhibiting Yao Hong Ying Embroidery Exhibition again by next year and expressed that they will definitely invite more relatives as well as friends for the exhibition.

At the end of the guided tour, Juin Mei had prepared some Three Good deeds and Five Pentagon of Harmony bookmarks as souvenirs to the visitors. The bookmarks had shared Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s wisdom, wishing the visitors may reflects to the wisdom in facing current pandemic situation and be able to face all difficulties in life with calmness at ease.
