BLIA South Island NZ participated the “2022 BLIA Virtual 4th Meeting of the Seventh Board of Directors"
On 2 October, The “2022 BLIA Virtual 4th Meeting of the Seventh Board of Directors" meeting was held online virtual, with 50 people from the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) south island, New Zealand participating. The conference used cutting-edge technology and incorporated games and lotteries to engage attendees. Participants were very pleased with the conference and grateful for the organisers' efforts. Attendees, including the President and Vice President of the BLIA South Island, expressed their appreciation for the conference's focus on innovation and technology, as well as its theme of "Wisdom and Innovation." The virtual platform and roundtable discussions allowed participants from around the world to share their unique perspectives and experiences in spreading the teachings of Buddhism.
Attendees of the opening ceremony shared their thoughts:
Bernie Siew, President of the BLIA South Island New Zealand:
I greatly admire how the BLIA headquarters and general association are always advancing with the times, providing opportunities for association executives and members to learn and engage with high-tech technology, which greatly benefits the development of the association's affairs. In particular, the "virtual platform" and "roundtable meetings" are significant breakthroughs, demonstrating this year's conference theme. The "virtual platform" allows BLIA members overseas to attend meetings without the pressure of space, while the "roundtable meetings" allow continents and associations to share their unique activities and let BLIA members around the world understand the unique features of overseas propagation.
James Low, Vice President of the BLIA South Island New Zealand:
I am very happy to be able to gather with BLIA members after the peak of the pandemic in New Zealand and participate in such a grand world conference. Through the cloud platform, I saw many familiar faces and listened to the Dharma teachings from the Venerables, which allowed us to keep pace with the main headquarters and general association. The addition of the "games and lucky draw" segment this year enlivened the conference atmosphere, and both BLIA members and BLIA Youth Adult Division (YAD) member participated happily.
Ming-Yuan Kuo, Senior Advisor of BLIA South Island, First Chapter:
As global borders gradually reopen, I believe this will be the last time we participate in an online conference, and therefore cherish this opportunity even more. The cloud conference allows BLIA members around the world to meet at zero time and space, which is truly a valuable opportunity. The conference format this year is surprising, and truly embodies the theme of "wisdom and innovation", demonstrating that Humanistic Buddhism must integrate with the masses, enter society, and be innovative in order to bring the propagation of Buddhism to a new milestone.
