BLIA South Island members visited Christ's College with Value of 3G4G

A prestigious Anglican school established in 1851 in New Zealand, to share Buddhist teachings with students in celebration of the "International Week." On August 5th, 15 students aged between 14 and 18, including local and Asian students with Buddhist backgrounds or interests, attended the event in the school's in the city center. Represented by Kok Wei Low, Chun Mei the BLIA members were welcomed by the school's Vice-Principal, Rob Donaldson.

Using the principle of "Three Acts of Goodness, Four Givings," (3G4G) the BLIA members interacted with the students, teaching them how to greet each other with the lotus hand gesture, and showing them a video of the Buddha's life. Vice-Principal Rob Donaldson also attended the event. Through the teachings of 3G4G the students learned that even small acts of kindness in daily life can be a practice of Buddhism that brings joy and convenience to others. They also learned about the Buddha's life and his teachings from the video.

Student Kevin Chiang expresses gratitude to the BLIA member for coming to the school to teach and providing valuable Buddhist knowledge, which benefited the attendees greatly. BLIA member gifted Vice Principal Rob with "2022 Fo Guang Shan New Zealand activities report" and Venerable Master Hsing Yun's book "366 days with Wisdom", sharing the services provided by the Fo Guang Shan NZ in the community over the past year, as well as the wisdom word of Master Hsing Yun.

Nearly 100 students from Christ's College visited Fo Guang Shan CHristchurch three times from June to July, and were delighted with the construction of the temple and teaching activities, leaving unforgettable memories. The accompanying teachers stated that the visit allowed the students to understand the religion and culture of the Christchurch community, which was of great help to their learning and had a positive impact on their future growth.
