BLIA South Island Donated Hand Sanitiser to School in Supporting Community Safety
Although New Zealand has its Covid-19 outbreak under control, the government still advises on the public to be more vigilant to prevent the outbreak from returning. Responding to the community health demands, Buddha Light International Association (BLIA) South Island represented by Director Kok-Wei Low and BLIA Young Adult Division Ni-Ling Chia attended and donated hand sanitiser to St James School in Christchurch on 29 October. St James school principal, Ms. Jo Barlow, represented the school happily received the hand sanitiser and appreciate for temple’s generosity. Ms. Jo expressed there are many students and hand sanitiser is important for the students. She reminded them as a measures for strengthen the health protection.
Kok-Wei also promoted several upcoming F Guang Shan (FGS) activities to the school such as 2020 Vege Fest Plan A, Laba Congee Festival, 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing and so on. Although St James is a Christian school, they very agree with FGS’s philosophy of Humanistic Buddhism and perceive those activities are meaningful. Jo represented the school of 115 students signed up for next year 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing and at the same time registered for 50 Laba Congee. To express their support for 2020 Vege Fest Plan A, Jo agreed to publicise the poster on the school bulletin board and the event information to be sent to parents via email to promote the activity.
BLIA South Island and St James School has developed good affinities 3 years ago through 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing. Laba Congee were sent to the school last year. Teachers and students were happy to receive. Jo hoped FGS and BLIA New Zealand will continue to organise activities that benefit the community, maintain long-term interaction, and let each other bind the virtuous affinities.
