BLIA South Island Basketball Team Received Blessing from Abbess

Six of the BLIA South Island Basketball Team players pay a visit to the temple which organised by the Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island President Bernie on 11th October 2020. They pay homage the Buddha in Buddha Hall and light offering to buddha and received blessing from Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Venerable Abbess Manshin.

Abbess shared with the players that athlete not only have to be physically agile, but also important to learn Buddha’s wisdom. The Buddha’s teaching is practical and it have to implement the Dharma teaching into our daily life. Abbess guide everyone to the Thought of a Buddhist Practitioner Floral Art Exhibition in Art Gallery, which convey the wisdom of the Chan practitioner with the aesthetics of floral art. She gave an analogy that if a player maintain the integrity like a practitioner in a game, the team can win the game with noble morals.

Abbess congratulated the players for winning the runner-up in the Canterbury Basketball League. She shared the Buddha’s wisdom with the players which resolve their problem and encourage to open their mind. She encouraged them to manage life with a positive attitude, often back to temple often and join the various activities. Cultivate the Bodhi seed in their mind. The team players appreciated for abbess’s inspirational sharing and promise to return temple more often while they have time.
