BLIA Promoted 3G4G event in St Thomas of Canterbury College
On 23 November, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island New Zealand was invited by Christchurch St Thomas of Canterbury College to their weekly Assembly to promote 2021 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing event. Six of BLIA members including first chapter president Louisa Kuo, Second Chapter President Cao Qian, Director Committee Kok Wei, Young Adult Division (YAD) Apple Ma, member Ryan Wang and Juin Mei attended and were welcomed By School Teacher Paul McCarthy. The school weekly assembly have more than 300 students and teacher attended.
Kok Wei represented BLIA South Island and the students introduce the activities in next year 3G4G event. He also show the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) Order’s hand gesture by greetings with lotus fingers posture while saying auspicious to bless other. After understanding the meaning of the three goods and the four givings, the students actively provided examples and shared the example to carry out the three goods and the four givings in daily life. During the assembly, the students felt very happy and at the end they agilely use the lotus finger posture to say thanks to BLIA members.
BLIA member also donated hand sanitiser on behalf of BLIA New Zealand. BLIA also gifted 2021 FGS calendar, 2020 BLIA Activity Report to school and accepted by Paul on behalf of St Thomas school. Kok Wei promoted the Laba Congee sharing event that will hold in next month. Paul said that this event is meaningful and willing to promote for their students.
St Thomas of Canterbury College a Catholic school was founded in 1961. Their students are mainly Maori and European ethnics. Paul once again thanked the BLIA with joined palms and expressed his support for the 2021 3G4G Festival of Cultural Sharing event. He believed that this will bring positive influence among the students and would encourage their students to participate this event in May next year. Also, the students can learn new knowledge and expose to different religious and cultural.
