BLIA North Island Chapter Humanistic Buddhism Dharma Speakers shared their Cultivation in Life
On 4th June 2022, BLIA North Island Chapter held the Humanistic Buddhism Dharma Speaker Evaluation. The Chinese and English speaker groups were conducted simultaneously. The Minister in Charge of FGS Auckland Venerable Rulian, President of BLIA North Island Yulin Ku, advisers, presidents, committees from each sub-chapters and YAD members were present. Over 20 members attended the events to provide supports to the speakers.
In the meeting, Venerable Rulian reminded all the speakers that the content and delivery should be relevant and to integrate the wisdom of Venerable Master. A sincere attitude, pleasant personality and precise expressions are the keys to deliver the message effectively as to influence the audiences.
Participants of the Chinese group included President Yulin Ku, Anita Chu, Ying-Ping, Vicky Han, Kyle Gu, Yao Chang and Steven Sun. On the other hand, the participants of the English group were represented by Edwin Teoh, Meggan Lam and Terry Hampson.
The presenters chose the articles which were related to their lives from Venerable Master Hsing Yun's literature of Between Ignorance and Enlightenment, and Hsing Yun’s Hundred Saying Series and applied the techniques of Three-Stage Speech Method. The speech titles by the speakers included Equal Emphasis on Understanding and Practice, Righteousness and Superstition, The New Four Means of Embracing, The Mind of Many Matters of Life, Aspiration and make a Vow, Seeing Emotions, The Outcome of Diligent, To live in Hope, Vanity and Practicality and To Take Delight in Learning One’s Own Mistakes. The speakers shared their personal experiences in real life on how Humanistic Buddhism has actually brightened their life and wisdoms in terms of studies and careers.
The seven participants from the Chinese group have all passed the evaluation with flying colours. While sharing with the groups, Venerable Rulian joyfully expressed that in order to grow and to improve continuously, everyone should read the literatures of Venerable Master regularly in order to gain the knowledge and wisdoms. Participants needed to take on the responsibility to share the benefits of Humanistic Buddhism as a personal mission. The enthusiasm and sense of mission of the speakers could well be expressed through their Dharma sharing. Venerable wished that more members can take part in future events and to move forward together. BLIA members were to transform from disciples to become teachers and to share the benefits and wisdom of Bodhisattva path.
Venerable Manshin, the Abbess of FGS Auckland encouraged all with the Right Effort, the main message was Prevent and End unwholesome states, Develop and Strengthen wholesome states. The Abbess encouraged all to go beyond ourselves and let the power of faith strengthen our wisdom. When our hearts filled with Dharma, we feel auspicious, blissful and surrounded by happiness every day under Buddha’s light.
