BLIA June Birthday Celebration

01 / 11

On 23rd June, the BLIA South Island NZ sub Chapter celebrated the birthday of its members born that month, with a total of 28 people attending. The celebration was presided by Venerable Jue Xi who gave “longevity buns” to President Bernie, Kui-Fah Jong, Jason Liu, Crystal and 2 other devotees wishing them well. All of the June birthday participants were very happy.

Venerable Jue Xi said that the monthly birthday celebrations were held to bring the BLIA members back to the Wisdom Home, so that everyone can work together for the benefit of Humanistic Buddhism. President Bernie also said that it was nice how the monthly birthday gathering brings everyone together to care for one another like a family, and more importantly, it reminds us to take good care of the temple and actively participate in more activities.

While having refreshments, BLIA Dharma Lecturer Rona Chen recited a page from the“366 Days with Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s book. it was as if the Master was there himself, connecting with the BLIA members, letting them understand how providing services, being dedicated, doing almsgiving, service work and having a selfless Bodhisattva attitude were all good virtues to have. BLIA member Kui-Fah Jong told how when she was volunteering at the temple, many visitors would come up to her and praise the “366 Days” book and share their thoughts on it.

All of the BLIA members who attended the birthday celebration were full of joy and they thanked the temple for providing a welcoming place to stay and do meaningful work. Everyone looked forward to having another birthday tea party next month!
