01 / 06

On 31 July, Fo Guang Shan (FGS) North Island NZ devotee Eva Ho visited FGS South Island and was received by Temple Minister in Charge Venerable Jue Xi as well as Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island NZ Director committee members Cao Qian, Tracy Chen and Kok Wei Low. Eva was so happy after her visit that she invited her friend Emily Kong to visit the temple the next day along with her family.

Eva is one the Director in FOCUS LAW firm in Auckland. With her rich experience, she successfully handled an incident of FGS Auckland fence being broken by the next-door property, and thus she became acquainted with Buddhism. On 25 July, she participated in a Buddhist proclamation ceremony at FGS North Island, becoming a disciple of the Triple Gem with the name He Yu.

Emily's son, Jack Cusack, is Eva's godson. Eva came to Christchurch to see Jack's performance, so she paid FGS South Island temple a visit. Venerable Jue Xi led Eva and Emily's family to the main shrine to make some prayer blessings. Afterwards, they visited the art gallery and the four bodhisattva statues on the temple’s outer wall. The group were impressed by the creative architecture and artistic atmosphere of the temple and expressed their admiration for the level of localization in the temple’s Dharma teachings. Venerable Jue Xi gave a Prince Siddhartha card to Jack, praising him for being as wise as the little Buddha, hoping that he will accomplish many meaningful things in the future for the community.
