Artists Approached FGY Art Gallery Christchurch for Exhibition Details

On 26 November, Kyra Weir an artist from Dunedin came to Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch inquire about exhibiting information and the Public Relation Staff, Ryan Wang had attended to her. Kyra have a studio and gallery in Brighton, a suburb of Dunedin. She has been painting for more than 40 years and also selling the artworks for more than 30 years. When she visited Christchurch a few years ago, she was attracted by the architectural design of the Fo Guang Shan (FGS) South Island temple. After visiting, she was mesmerised by the elegant environment and its interior design where she hope to has an exhibition here someday.

Kyra is an oil painting artist and her artworks theme mainly are landscape, sketches, abstract paintings and etc. In addition to her creation, she conducted classes in teaching arts. Her husband Lindsay Crooks is also an artist whom had held over 80 exhibitions in New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom and other countries. They collected private art collections from around the world. Kyra and her husband have recently moved to Christchurch and her thoughts of having an exhibition in FGY art gallery Christchurch crossed her mind again. She would like to exhibit her artworks in this gallery next year.

On the same day, copper wire artist, Leonore Ashby and her husband, Errol Ashby came to the FGY art gallery to replace her display artworks. Leonore held an art exhibition in the gallery previously. The handcrafted Copper wire artworks creations are exquisite including animals, plants, daily necessities, jewellery and etc. During the exhibition, numerous visitors complimented her talent. She also have two live demonstration of her creation with the visitors. In order to repay the enthusiastic support from the visitor, Leonore brought some of her creative artworks to FGY art gallery Christchurch as a Christmas exhibition, allowing visitors to view her creative copper wire artworks again. She also donated a portion of her artworks sales as a token of appreciation to the gallery.
