Arranging for ‘Course of existence’ Exhibition in FGY Christchurch
On 8th March, Christchurch ceramics artist Della Goodinson visited Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Christchurch to finalise with FGY Art Gallery Christchurch Liaison Officer Craig Dee matters related to the holding of exhibition at FGY. Della will hold the exhibition jointly with her close friend Amanda Brooking from 8th April to 7th July 2019.
Della is a lover of ceramics art and she came to know of FGY Art Gallery Christchurch in her visit to one of the exhibitions held here and thereafter she looks forward to have her own exhibition here too. Della’s art pieces are varied and functional and include, among many, tea cups, bowls, plates and flower vases. The material for her works is the soil from Christchurch’s Taylor Mistake Beach which is noted as a source of high quality ceramics. On the other end, Amanda loves to recycle waste materials and turn them into art pieces. This way she creates new lives out of waste materials and add value to them. Amanda emulates Japanese Wabi-sabi’s artistic concept of producing scrolls by painting nature’s sceneries on old papers, turning them into high value collectors’ art pieces.
Della and Amanda will jointly hold the ‘Course of existence’ Exhibition of Scrolls and Ceramics in FGY Art Gallery Christchurch. They will collectively exhibit about one hundred items and the opening day for the Exhibition is 20th April 2019. To ensure smooth running of the Exhibition, Della will hold further discussion with FGY Art Gallery prior to the start of the event.
