ARA Fo Guang Club Seeking New Members on Orientation Day

01 / 06

ARA, Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, held its second Orientation Day this year on 11th August at the school's activity center, with about 500 students attending the event. Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) South Island New Zealand Young Adult Division (YAD) leader Ni Ling Chia led two YAD members to recruit for the Fo Guang Club.

Ni Ling Chia led the team members to introduce the concept behind the Fo Guang Club and advertised some upcoming activities, including a campus meditation class and the Sunday English prayer session at the temple, hoping that students will have a place for their heart to calm down in the midst of their busy schoolwork. The club also seeks to help students understand Buddhist philosophy and get closer to good teachings, so that life will be full of joy and hope.

On that day, 22 students registered to join the Fo Guang Club and will participate in the orientation session scheduled to be held on campus on August 20. This is a good opportunity for students to learn about Buddhism and enrich their lives spiritually.
