Alternative way for cultivation – Cloud water Tea Talk sharing

01 / 08

New Zealand is still in a state of alert due to the COVID19 pandemic. Considering the issue of epidemic prevention for the believers, Fo Guang Shan Christchurch suspended chanting cultivation and practice during the severe outbreak. In order to continue to encourage Fo Guang people to face the changes in life with firm faith, on August 6, the resident monks held a new type of group practice event called the "Cloud and Water Tea Talk Sharing". Through discussions and answering questions, they aimed to clarify the doubts in the hearts of member and devotees. The tea talk was hosted by Venerable Juexi, with over 50 BLIA member and Devotees in attendance.

During the event, the Venerable asked, "How can we guide a handsome, intelligent, successful, high-ranking, and well-off person to learn Buddhism?" Everyone attended enthusiastically discussed this question.

In this question, the Venerable further explains that successful people may appear polished and bright, but they often have fears and worries about losing what they have. To overcome these fears and worries, we should view everything in the world as a result of cause and effect and handle life's problems with the wisdom of Buddhism. By practicing generosity, forming positive connections with others, speaking kindly, and showing care, our lives will naturally become more abundant, and we will not need to worry about losing or changing things. Learning Buddhism can help us calm our minds, and the concept of "cause and effect" reminds us that everything in the world is impermanent. Therefore, we should not cling to what we have now and instead accept new things and phenomena with a joyful heart. Buddhism is inherent in our nature, and those who learn Buddhism can gain wealth without seeking it, and create a life without seeking, leading to a life of freedom.

The Venerable's vivid explanation made the whole tea talk filled with laughter. The Buddhist practitioners took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions about cause and effect, and all their doubts about life were cleared up, making them feel refreshed and enlightened. The "Cloud and Water Tea Talk sharing" was well received, and due to the enthusiastic invitation of the Buddhist practitioners, it will continue next week.
